The Gabrieli Choir

Dániel Végh

Dániel Végh

After ten years of piano studies, Daniel changed to the trombone and planned to be a professional but did not finish the academy. During a trip to Spain he fell in love with the country and decided to convert in a Hispanist. Currently he is working on his PhD thesis in comparative literature at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and publishes articles on Spanish-Hungarian translations in leading Hungarian literary journals.

Daniel still makes music: he plays the trombone in the Esztergom Municipal Symphony Orchestra, and tenor horn in the band of the Szent István Király Mid-level Conservatory. Apart from being an active amateur musician, he collaborates as periodist and critic in several magazines on classical music. Daniel’s first contact with English church music dates to 2005 when he took part in an Evensong in Canterbury Cathedral; and due to the kind and irresistible invitation of one of the members he has sung with the Gabrieli Choir since January 2008.
