The Gabrieli Choir
Gertrud Schmidhoffer

Gertrud has sung with choirs and played in small orchestras throughout her life. Her first instrument was the violin, but after about eight years she began singing in choirs, and since then has never looked back! Today she has sung with the renowned Budapest Choir for over 36 years, performing 600 concerts both in Hungary and abroad, covering practically all of the world’s finest choral repertoire with several famous conductors and soloists.
She currently works for the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy of Budapest as a manager of the Administration Department of Faculty of Music Teaching, having spent her entire career there. She holds diplomas in both music teaching (specialising in singing) and the management of higher education.
In her spare time, Gertrud also enjoys painting stained glass - and has had her wide-ranging work exhibited six times in Budapest. Her paintings can also be found in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
