Tallis Choral Festival Weekend
Three bodies that organize weekend-long singing workshops and longer residential singing courses all over the U.K. and Europe. Repertoire is carefully chosen and taught by experts in each particular field. The Tallis Choral Festival Weekend always includes a performance of Tallis’s tour de force “Spem in Alium.” Although all three groups are U.K.-based, their courses are open to applicants from any country. The Gabrieli Choir’s Musical Director has personal experience of, and warmly recommends them all. Lacock Courses, Run By Singers and Tallis Choral Festival Weekend.
Carlisle Cathedral
The Cathedral where Richárd Sólyom was a member of the choir and where his love of English sacred music really developed. The oldest parts of the Cathedral are nearly nine hundred years old, and although it is one of England’s smallest, it has many outstanding architectural features. The city of Carlisle (population 70,000) is an historic market town in northwest England, just a few miles from the border with Scotland. It has a fascinating history and many attractions. The Irish Sea, the English Lake District, the Scottish Borders and Hadrian’s Wall are all on its doorstep. Carlisle Cathedral
Abbeydale Singers
The Abbeydale Singers is a chamber choir from Sheffield in northern England, with whom it was Richárd Sólyom’s pleasure to work when they visited Budapest in 2006. We look forward to cooperating on a return visit in the future, and hope at that time we shall be able to arrange a joint concert. Abbeydale Singers
